SBA HELPS WITH PR

05/12/2017  |  No comments

by Anna Marie Wood, owner of Templework LA

Templework LA   I opened December 19th, 2016. Opening a business isn’t for the weary, that’s for sure. On top of being a therapist here, I was responsible to planting seeds of awareness about my business and our services.

I was really on the third spring board when I met Emily Tufeld in May of 2017. She is a marketing mentor with SCORE.org. Lovely lady. She came by and was really liking what she saw in terms of many things I already had in place with social media, marketing, business organization, etc. But additional awareness was needed. A publicist? Would that be the answer? It was July when she mentioned taking a “How to Pitch to Press” free seminar being held at SCORE…the SBA in downtown Glendale. I could learn pitching to media to be included in newspaper articles, online articles, pod-casts, radio and TV.

I took the 2 hour free seminar and signed up for Dale’s online class… THIS. IS. AN. INVALUABLE. CLASS for anyone venturing into business. I highly recommend. I have been mentioned in the LA Times recently and was an Honoree for 2017 with SCORE. I can’t be happier. So, spread the word on Dale’s class if you like. 😊

I’m learning how to pitch to media on my own and it has empowered me and will only make my business stronger and more visible. 😊

ANOTHER LOCAL ROAD DIET?

29/06/2017  |  No comments

Fletcher Dr Road Diet

When Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu spoke at a Silver Lake Chamber sponsored breakfast in April, he explained that there are over a dozen means of mitigating traffic problems. The road diet, carving away existing lane(s), is at the most expensive and intrusive end of the spectrum. Yet, once again, a road diet is being prescribed for us.

According to the Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce:

“On June 13th the City’s Department of Transportation (LADOT) presented two alternative design plans to bring pedestrian/bicycle safety improvements to Fletcher Drive; between San Fernando Road and the 5 Interstate Freeway. LADOT drafted these plans without any community input, and both plans include a “road diet” or vehicular traffic lane reduction from the current four (4) lane to a two (2) lane configuration.”
