Seven Habits of Communication

29/12/2016  |  No comments

(…that might help you steer clear of a mediator’s office!)

➢ Use “I-Messages” to communicate strong feelings

➢ Practice “Active Listening” in order to help manage the strong feelings of others

➢ Avoid statements beginning with “You…” unless the content is 100% positive

➢ Really avoid statements beginning with “You always…” and “You never…” unless the content is 100% positive

➢ Apologize when you’re feeling remorseful

➢ When someone apologizes to you, choose a size that fits you:
(LARGE) forgive them and/or
(MEDIUM) accept the apology and/or
(SMALL) at least thank them

➢ Refrain from saying “I told you so”
