- Get up, Get Ready, Get in tune. Personal focus is key when starting your day, keeping emotional and physical health in mind. Routines create positive structure. This is the time to breath deeply for 5 minutes, so you are present in your body. Do at least 15 minutes of stretching and exercise to reset your body. Get dressed as you would if you were going to your place of business with a tad of casualness such as no shoes or suit coat. All those video calls keep me in check!
- Understand the why of your business and adapt quickly to changing times. Start working out your scenarios whether you are financially stable or require assistance such as grants, loans, etc. What can be done to establish a path forward to optimizing? Make a to-do list for the week and keep ticking them off with no judgement or timeline. The ability to be malleable in uncertain times is essential.
- Be a leader with empathy and decisiveness. Get your customer relationship management (CRM) platform working! Call, email, snail mail notes to your clients and vendors asking how they are doing and if you can help in a way that may not even be relevant to your business. Just listen don’t pitch. Offer local resources they may not know about. Be confident and of value with a warm heart.
- Speak to the masses on social media but also comment on posts from locals, businesses and followers. We are all in this together. Now is a great time to create content for blogs, update websites and social media pages or start a YouTube channel.
- Attend Virtual Meetings, Parties, Informational Sessions, Think Tanks – Stay Informed. Use this time to strengthen your foundation and be in touch with others! I have attended everything from virtual government townhalls and office meetings to surprise birthday parties and game nights by using Zoom, Google Hangouts, Meet, etc.
- Give yourself a day or two off. Be kind, compassionate and consciously grateful of your current situation. Chat with friends and family no matter how long it has been. Find your wonder again by going for a walk and absorbing nature with your senses. Watch a movie. Read a book. Learn a new instrument. Cook or bake something special. Build, draw, paint, photograph…make all those things you never took the time to do. Watch your heart and spirit thrive.
